Blythewood Bengals Varsity defeated Westwood 13-0 on Monday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Cole Riley induced a fly out from Williams to finish off the game.
Blythewood secured the victory thanks to eight runs in the first inning. The Bengals put the pressure on, lead by singles by Josh Cowan, Nate Hinson, and Colton Harman, a walk by John Lanier, and a groundout by Landon Lucas.
Blythewood got on the board in the first inning when Cowan singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
A single by Buck in the first inning was a positive for Westwood.
Lucas took the win for Blythewood, lasting four innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out five and walking one. Riley threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Wise took the loss for Westwood. He allowed six hits and eight runs over one inning.
Lucas went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Blythewood in hits and didn’t commit a single error in the field. Colin Jones had the most chances in the field with seven.
