Blythewood Bengals B-Team defeated Lugoff-Eligin 8-0 on Wednesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Ryan Watts induced a fly out from Jackson to finish off the game.
Blythewood secured the victory thanks to six runs in the sixth inning, with batters contributing to the big inning, included Harry Weaver, Harrison Collins, John Rollings, and Evan Todd, all knocking in runs in the inning.
Blythewood fired up the offense in the first inning. Jeb Britt’s sac fly scored one run.
The Bengals notched six runs in the sixth inning. Blythewood’s offense in the inning was led by Weaver, Collins, Rollings, and Todd, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
One bright spot for Lugoff-Eligin was a single by Pittman in the fifth inning.
Britt earned the win for Blythewood Bengals B-Team. He went four innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out four and walking one. Watts threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Watts recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Blythewood.
Hornsby took the loss for Lugoff-Eligin. He went three and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on three hits.
Britt, Todd, Landon Penfield, Alex Myers, Collins, and Rollings each collected one hit to lead Blythewood. The Bengals tore up the base paths, as three players stole at least two bases. Rollings led the way with two.
Pittman led Lugoff-Eligin with one hit in one at bats.
