Blythewood got out to a five-run lead in the third inning and held on for a 6-4 victory over Nation Ford on Wednesday. Nation Ford tallied three runs in the failed comeback.
Blythewood opened up scoring in the first inning. Bell Reynolds’s sac fly scored two runs for the Bengals.
Josie Smythe led the team to victory in the circle. She allowed seven hits and four runs over four innings, striking out three and walking one. Emily Babbitt threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Babbitt recorded the last nine outs to earn the save.
Lauren Hardy, Haley McCoy, and Smythe all had one hit. Blythewood didn’t commit a single error in the field. Kailey Shannon had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
Six runs batted in from Kamila El-Amin helped leadJV past Nation Ford JV 23-2 on Wednesday. El-Amin drove in runs on a double in the first, a grand slam in the first, and a groundout in the second.
JV grabbed an early lead. JV scored on a single by Ashlee Hoile, a single by Keeley Hughes, a single by Carsyn Hall, a single by Maya Van Zyl, a single by Zaharia Williams, a double by El-Amin, an error, a single by June Heitman, a single by Hughes, an error, and a grand slam by El-Amin in the first inning.
Heitman got the win for JV. She lasted one inning, allowing one hit and two runs while striking out one. Neliah Browne threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Blythewood JV hit one home run on the day. El-Amin had a four bagger in the first inning.
JV tallied 23 hits on the day. Van Zyl, Hoile, Josie Smythe, Hughes, Hall, Kylie Sanders, and El-Amin each managed multiple hits for JV. Hoile and Van Zyl each collected four hits to lead Blythewood Bengals JV. Blythewood JV was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Van Zyl had the most chances in the field with five.
