Blythewood took the lead late in the game in a 6-5 victory over JL Mann on Saturday. The game was tied at four with the Blythewood Bengals batting in the bottom of the sixth. The Bengals scored one run on a stolen base.
Blythewood earned the victory despite allowing JL Mann to score three runs in the fifth inning. Morrisey, Lamsoew, and Payne all drove in runs in the frame.
JL Mann got on the board in the second inning when Powell doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
In the top of the seventh inning, JL Mann tied things up at five when Josh Cowan induced Daniels to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
John Lanier got the win for Blythewood. He went four and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out three. Cowan and Alex Canino entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Nelson took the loss for JL Mann. He allowed eight hits and five runs over six innings, striking out three and walking one.
The Bengals socked one home run on the day. Lanier went deep in the fifth inning.
Blythewood Bengals tallied 11 hits on the day. Landon Lucas, Cowan, and Zach Bailes each collected multiple hits for Blythewood Bengals Varsity 2019. Lucas led Blythewood with four hits in four at bats.
JL Mann totaled ten hits in the game. Daniels, Powell, Payne, and Morrisey each racked up multiple hits for JL Mann.
