Eight runs in the sixth inning led Blythewood Bengals JV past Lugoff-Elgin 12-1 on Wednesday. Blythewood’s big bats in the inning were led by walks by Justin Flemming, Mark Jones, and Noah Valsecchi, singles by Stephen Spittler and Jacob Hardy, and a double by Zach Brown.
Blythewood got things moving in the first inning, when Spittler doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
The Bengals put up eight runs in the sixth inning. Brown, Flemming, Spittler, Hardy, Jones, and Valsecchi each had RBIs in the frame.
Alex Simmons was the winning pitcher for Blythewood. He surrendered one run on three hits over four and a third innings, striking out five. Valsecchi threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
C LeGrand took the loss for Lugoff-Elgin. He lasted three innings, allowing five hits and five runs while striking out four and walking one.
Blythewood tallied ten hits in the game. Spittler, Carson Weathers, and Caleb McCants all managed multiple hits. McCants, Weathers, and Spittler each collected two hits to lead Blythewood Bengals JV.
