Multiple Teams · New Clear Bag Policy For 2019

Richland School District Two is implementing a “Clear Bag” entry procedure for varsity sporting events effective January 1, 2019. This proactive measure is part of the district’s efforts to continually improve and advance safety and security measures. This entry procedure will also be in effect for all winter junior varsity sporting events that take place on the same day and at the same location as a varsity sporting event.

Each ticketed individual will be permitted to carry one clear tote bag, not to exceed 12” x 6” x 12”, and a small clutch or wallet can be included in this clear tote if does not exceed 4.5” x 6.5”. A clear tote bag is not required in order to carry small permissible items such as keys, wallets, cell phones, credit cards, cash, etc., which should be carried in a pocket. As in the past, prohibited items include, but are not limited to, weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco and electronic cigarettes, and any other items prohibited on RSD2 property.

While we encourage our fans and guests to attend events without carrying any bag, we understand that it is necessary for some individuals to utilize a non-clear bag for medically necessary items or equipment. If an individual cannot utilize a clear bag due to medical necessity, he or she will be required to speak with a designated RSD2 security guard, and the medical bag will be subject to search. Searched medical bags are the only non-clear bag that an individual will be permitted to carry. Credentialed members of the media may also stop to have their bags necessary for work searched by the designated security official.  Also, for this year only, students enrolled at the school where the event is held will be allowed to bring their bookbags into the event. The student – with a current ID displayed –  will be required to speak with a designated school administrator and the bookbag will be subject to search. There are no other exemptions to this procedure. Items necessary for the care of small children and camera equipment will need to be placed in a clear bag.  No diaper bags or camera bags will be allowed.

Finally, please be reminded that once an individual has received clearance to enter the event, the individual will not be allowed to re-enter if they choose to leave at any time. As safety and security is our number one priority, leaders will continue exploring all options to advance and improve safety and security measures in line with common procedures implemented at major events that have the potential to attract a large crowd.
