Bengals Takes Some Time To Pull Away From Northwestern
Blythewood traveled to Northwestern to take on the Trojans in a non-conference showdown.
The game was tied at five with Blythewood batting in the top of the eighth when Sammy Hall singled off of Chambers, driving in one run.
Bengals earned the victory despite allowing Northwestern to score three runs in the seventh inning. Northwestern’s big inning was driven by a home run by Wancheck and a double by Wallace.
Blythewood took an early lead in the first inning. Emily Babbitt earned a walk to lead the game off and advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch. Kendall Parker then sacrificed bunted Babbitt to 3rd and Sammy Hall produced a ground-out RBI.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Northwestern tied things up at five. Wallace drove in two when she doubled in the seventh inning.
Northwestern scored three runs in the seventh inning. The big inning for Northwestern came thanks to a home run by Wancheck and a double by Wallace.
Kendall Parker earned the win for Bengals. She went eight innings, surrendering five runs, 11 hits, striking out two, and walking zero. Chambers took the loss for Northwestern. She tossed eight innings, surrendering eight runs, 12 hits, and striking out two.
Blythewood had 12 hits in the game. Grace Campbell, Emily Babbitt, Erin Goff, and Parker each collected multiple hits for Bengals. Babbitt and Hall each drove in two runs to lead Blythewood.
Bengal softball returns to action Wednesday, April 19 at home against Lexington. Junior varsity begins at 5:30 and varsity begins at 7:15.
