Game Recap

The Bengals concluded their regular season schedule against the Skyhawks of Hammond. This high-scoring non-conference game was the first meeting between these two schools. The Skyhawks, part of the SCISA, are loaded with great talent; lead by #22 Corbett Glick, #12 Cle Pennington and the Freshman sensation #16 Alex Huntley. The trio accounted for all but two of Hammond’s goals. But once again the night belong to the Bengals who stayed a step ahead and played together as a team for the victory. Five different Blythewood players put their name in the score column in the stat book: #5 Cooper James, #12 Mac Martin, #26 Justin Williams and 11 of the goals came from the dynamic duo of #24 Kaden Brown and #43 Landon Barrow. The tandem was almost unstoppable all night with great passes from teammate #7 Matt Clary that led the team in assist. Not just the scoring but the ground ball game was also won by the Bengals with #8 Brandon Allen, #23 Patrick Coyne and #28 Christ Rodriguez each grabbing 6 apiece, which dictated the outcome of the game.
The game was close in the fourth quarter and Skyhawks managed to tie it up at one point but, it didn’t last long when Senior captain Landon Barrow ripped a goal to the top corner of the net before the goalie could even move. Only to be followed by Kaden Brown dodging through almost the entire Hammond defense to score a goal on the door step of the crease.
The Blythewood Bengals boy’s lacrosse team finish their regular season with a 10-2 record and undefeated in region play. They are the 2017 Region champs and will have home field advantage in the start of the 5A State Playoffs. The 5A playoff seeding and brackets will be announced on the 14th of April. The first playoff game will be on Tuesday the 25th of April. Please come out and support the boys as they continue their quest to the finials. Go Bengals!
